Frequently asked questions
TabShame uses macOS Automation (AppleScript) to count open tabs in Safari, Chrome, and Edge. It only reads the number of tabs — never URLs, titles, or page content.
No. TabShame runs entirely on your Mac. Nothing is sent to any server. No analytics, no tracking, no telemetry. Your tab hoarding habits are between you and your menu bar.
Nope. TabShame checks your tab count at the interval you set (from every 1 minute to every 3 hours). It uses negligible CPU and memory between checks.
Yes — TabShame works on any Mac running macOS 13.0 (Ventura) or later, Intel or Apple Silicon.
If TabShame isn't shaming you properly, reach out and we'll sort it out. No hard feelings.
